Gifts Idea for your mommy ~ Beauty goodie box

With my mom's birthday coming this weekend, I decided to give you guys an idea on what you might could give your mom as a gift.
Clearly I never knew what to give my mom that would actually be useful to her. This year I decided to get a bit more creative and took the initiative to create a basket full of goodies.

In the past few years my mom became really cautions of her skin, so this was a perfect chance to give her a bunch of products.
Have you ever seen the prices of mature skin beauty products?!? Wow!! Obviously products for mature skin need to be a lot more effective than the regular moisturiser that a 20 year old wears on her skin.
My mom has used many products but she doesn't really has a regular skin care routine. I decided to help her out and created a skin care routine basket for her.

The steps are always the same no matter what age:

  • Makeup Removal: Even in the morning you might still have some makeup left on your skin from the night before.
  • Toner: Toner removes completely any remaining makeup and excess oil. It prepares the skin to Makeup application
  • Serum: Compared to day/night cream, serums nourishes the skin more deeply and effectively, so it is important to always use a serum. There is a huge variation for any type of skin and age.
  • Day Cream: Or moisturiser however you like to call it. Never skip that no matter what skin type. Even oily skin needs to be moisturised. It is important for aging skin to keep the moisture because it helps prevent wrinkles.
  • Night Cream: Whether you buy a cream for both night and day or you buy them separately, doesn't matter at all. Important is that if you use 1 cream for both, look that the cream doesn't contain any SPF, or else the sun protection will loose its effect. I personally prefer to use two different creams and always aim for a more nourishing night cream and something lighter for daytime. But this is totally up to you.
  • Eye Cream: This is a must have!! The eye area is where you get most of the wrinkles, so protecting your eyes from aging is very important. The skin around your eye area is more sensitive then the rest of your face so you need to take extra care of it.

Popular brands among mature age:
Biotherm ~ Compared to the other brand it's really affordable. They have an entire line dedicated to mature skin. The lady in the store told me that this brand is really popular among mature women.
Estée Lauder ~ The Advance Night Repair Synchronised Recovery Complex II is a leading serum in the beauty market.

Instead of a box I decided to buy a basket big enough to fit all the products. For decoration I took transparent rainbow effect paper.

Taking in consideration the skin care routine above I collected products for my mom.
Since I'm not familiar with mature skin beauty products, I haunted down some beauty stores and asked for some advises from the lady in the corner.

Since I bought quite many products, I received many samples and goodies and obviously I just added them to the basket.
PS. Don't you think the hippo from my card looks really cute? :D

Beside of skincare products I also bought some makeup products. I bought her an eyeshadow palette, since my mom rarely wears any eyeshadows. Usually with the years going by the eyes start to become smaller, so taking that in consideration I bought her bright and shimmery products.

Important: to make the eyes appear bigger always use bright and shimmery colours!!

Obviously you don't have to create a whole set of a skincare routine like I did. Clearly not everyone has the budget for that. You can make your mom already really happy by just giving her a serum or a day cream.
In general I like the idea of making boxes filled with different products as a gift and really cool is when they create an entire routine.
Example: Manicure Set, Day Makeup Set, Bath Set, Baking Set, ecc..

My first subscription box ~ Unboxing the Kawaii Box April 2015

I finally subscribed to a monthly subscription box!! It took me so long to decide for something. I always wanted to subscribe to a beauty box but there where not many that shipped worldwide.
Recently my friend showed me a japanese candy box and I thought that was so cool and I went on the internet browsing for japanese related boxes. It didn't take too long to come across the +Kawaii Box.

KAWAII (かわいい) means CUTE in japanese.

This subscription box comes with 10 to 12 cute items from Japan and Korea.

You can choose between 4 plans.
  •   1 month plan ~ 18.90 USD/1 month
  •   3 month plan ~ 18.90 USD/1 month
  •   6 month plan ~ 17.90 USD/1 month
  • 12 month plan ~ 17.90 USD/1 month
You can also give away this subscription box as a gift by choosing a different shipping address.
I subscribed for a 3 months plan because I wanted to try it out first before subscribing for a longer period.

They offer free shipping worldwide! That means you only pay for the products. They ship from Singapore and you get a notification when they ship and in the mail they add the tracking number.
I believe they ship the boxes at the very last day of the month with economy, so you will get the box around 12 days later. At least that's how it was when they shipped my box for April 2015.

The items that you get are all 100% original, so no fake products. You receive accessories, DIY products, food, school supplies and much more.

For further information about the Kawaii box check out their website: Kawaii box.
On their website you can also see previous boxes and that will give you an idea on what you will get inside the boxes.
For subscribing to the box click here.

As mentioned before, I receive the box for the month of April and I thought I would unbox it with you guys.

I also made an unboxing video for you guys on my channel:

The box came with a little card. On it was handwritten spring. I'm not sure if that's supposed to be the theme of the box or just a little random note.
The products were covered with a baby pink paper.

In total I received 10 products. Mostly school supplies and one snack.

Obviously the first thing that I grabbed out of the box was the japanese candy!! :D
~ Glico COLLON Matcha Cream Biscuits ~
I have to admit that matcha is not my favourite scent but these biscuits are so yummy!! The matcha is not all too strong, that might be the reason why it doesn't bother me too much.
These biscuits were the only candies in the box but obviously it's not a candy box so it's totally fine.

As you might can see, the next product didn't arrived in it's best condition.
It's a glitter set with 5 different colours. Unfortunately everything is written in korean so I had a hard time in understanding for what you could actually use these glitters for. I believe you could use it with everything you want. I still have no idea what to do with them, so if you have any ideas please let me know.

I got a Rilakkuma notebook!! I believe this is my first Rilakkuma product ever.

OMG this pen is so adorable. The pony is just so cute. Let's just pretend that it's actually a unicorn. :P ... oh wait it has wings so it's a pegasus, right?

This macaroon container was actually my favourite product from the box. It's so cute, but so tiny. You could store small things like earrings or coins in here.
The colour is cool too, but I wish it was pink.

Is this a bear? A cat? Hmm a frog? Whatever it is, it's so cute!!
This teddy serves as a key chain. Might have to substitute mine.

Bow, bow, bow!!! I love bows. They are so cute and a great accessory for every girl. This bow is made of plastic and it's a hair accessory.

Give me five!! :D That's so cute a paw phone chain. I love dogs so this is really cute. Too bad that I actually don't use phone chains though, but I recently lost my chain on my polaroid and I guess I have a new one now. :P

I always wanted those pearls to tune up my phone cover. Finally it's time for some fun make over. :P

So many rabbits!! Aww these 3D stickers are so cute.

The last product that I got inside the box was this pen holder. The sheeps are so cute.

All in one I think these box had some really cute items. Some of them weren't really useful to me but that's the risk that everyone is taking when subscribing for a monthly box.
I am definitely looking forward to the next box just to see in how the boxes variate from each other.

Diary of a Shopaholic: My love for Catrice Cosmetics and the Nudes

If you are following me on Youtube you might know that I am a huge fan of Catrice Cosmetics. For all those who haven't seen my videos. Hop over to Youtube and look for jamilaxaj. Click on the Youtube icon to get there directly. ;)

Catrice Cosmetics Prime and Fine Mattifying Powder Waterproof #010 Translucent

I'm already using this powder and I love it. It keeps my makeup in place and is so mattifying. I tend to get really oily on my T-Zone and this powder helps me prevent this.
This powder has a whitening effect so if you are not really into porcelain effect I would not recommend it. I picked up this product for my sister because the other day she asked me, if I knew any powder that doesn't have a yellow undertone. The first product that came up my mind was this powder.

Catrice Cosmetics Illuminating Blush #030 Kiss me Ken

I can't get enough out of blushes. Blush is 1 of the 3 beauty essentials. The other 2 are Mascara and Lipstick.
This blush comes with shimmer and pearl effect to give some nice highlight to the cheekbones.

Catrice Cosmetics Sun Glow Matt Bronzing Powder Darker Skin #020 Deep Bronze

Let's ignore the fact that this bronzer is for darker skin, while I am pretty pale. I am pretty much into bronzing but haven't found the perfect shade for my skin. I noticed that when I use a darker bronzer the result is better than with lighter products. On top of that I prefer matt bronzer over the shimmery type. I don't want my entire face to glitter whenever the sun is shining.

Catrice Cosmetics Kohl Kajal #070 Take the Greyhound

For most of the time I use black eyeliner, but lately I've started to try new shades and wanted do give grey/silver a try.

Catrice Cosmetics Made to Stay Smoothing Lip Polish #070 Red-Volution

How can it be something else then a red lipstick. :D
This is a 3 in 1 lip product. It is pigmented like a lipstick, long-lasting like a lip stain and has a shiny finish like a lipgloss. Sounds promising, right?

Maybelline The Nudes

I've been going back and forth if I should buy this palette or not. I had the sensation that I probably own all the shades that are included in this palette. In the end I still picked it up.
With this palette you are able to create up to 13 looks. You get matt and shimmery shadows.
This palette is very similar to the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette. So if you are looking for a cheap alternative this palette might be a good try.

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Matte Finish #01 Personne Ne Rouge Review

A couple of weeks ago when I was going through the beauty corner of my local drugstore I came across this new lip product from Bourjois. Of course I had to test it out, since I am a huge fan of those cream textured lipsticks. So I went directly for the red shade.
I have quite a couple of lip products from Bourjois and have to admit that they are quite impressive.

So the product itself smells really disgusting, like that white fluid that you use to cover up your mistakes that you did while writing. (What is it called? Tip-ex?) Luckily you won't smell it when applied on the lips, but they should really work on that.

It comes in this small containers with a brush applicator. It seems like the container is see-through and you can see the actual shade of the lip product. It's a beautiful cold toned red.

Use the brush for application. For my thin lips the brush is almost too big for a precise application, but it still worked out. I usually don't use any lipliner for these types of lip products, they usually tend to be really long lasting on it's own.
The shade is really pigmented and once applied it appears matte. The shade is buildable so in case you want less pigmentation just apply a little bit less on your lips and spread it all over your lips. For full exposure just add more product. The product is really long lasting, the only down side is that they start to feel dry with time passing by.

I tried to wash off my hands the cream by using soap and water. As you can see, I wasn't fully able to wash it off properly. On the contrary look at how much remained on my hand.

Beside the fact that it dries out quickly this product is quite impressive. To give you a better look, here is how it looks applied on the lips~
