Skinfood Black Sugar Perfect First Serum No. 1 Original Review

I discovered this product in mid September in Shinjuku Skinfood shop. They were selling this product as a small sample with a Wash-off scrub.
The fact that it was a bestseller really got my attention.
I'm already using the black sugar wash-off mask from Skinfood and I'm really satisfied with it.

I purchased that sample version and was testing it out for about 2 weeks.
I applied it after my Missha First Treatment Essence. It really felt great on my skin and my skin has become quite brighter then before.

the small sample came with a coupon for the big size
with the small size bottle i also received some cotton pads as samples. I purchased it with the Strawberry black sugar wash-off mask

As I finished my sample version I went back to the store and purchased the big size bottle.
On the big size I had a discount of 500 Yen and I also received a packaging of cotton pads.

The cotton pads have different texture on each side.
On one side they are a bit rougher. With that side you wipe the product in circle motions on your skin.
The other side is softer. With it you tap the product into the skin.

left is the rough side and on the right it's the soft side
Product description

Size: 120ml
Packaging: glas bottle

Containing: The texture is fluid and there are no sugar corns inside. (It's only a watery substance)

Skin type: for all skin types

How it works

This product has the following benefits:

  • skin-brightening
  • anti-wrinkle
  • exfoliating
  • hydrating

This serum is for daily use. It makes your skin softer and smoother.

How to use

Use it after cleansing your face.
Shake the bottle before usage. Put some product on a cotton pad on the rough side. Wipe it over your face. With the soft side of the cotton pad tap the product into your skin.
Continue with applying a moisturizer or with your usual skin care routine.

My personal opinion:

I really like this product. It's really gentle on the skin. It doesn't irritate or burns. It feels moisturizing and it brightens up red spots.
At first your skin gets a bit red, but it lightens up really quickly again. That's probably because of the cotton pads.
I believe that it is a great product, especially for skin that had suffered from acne and now needs to recover from it.
Since this product is really gentle, also people with sensitive skin can use it.

My Favorites: Best Drugstore Eyeprimer: Manhattan Base Line Eyeshadow Base Review

This is maybe one of my favorites eyeprimer ever.
It is the first eyeprimer that I've ever used. I really really love it.

  • It's really long lasting. It makes my eye-makeup stay on for almost 12 hours.
  • It doesn't crease at all.
  • It has a light shimmer that makes your eyes brighter.

The product comes in a small pot of 8 gr. It's a creamy texture with shimmer sparkles.
The pot lasts for a really long time. I would say almost 1/2 year.

I like to apply this primer with my bare hands. On my opinion it's the easiest way to apply it.

Since it's a drugstore product, it's also really unexpensive. Instead for going for really expensive product, try this product. It's a real bargain.

Girls Drama: I cut my hair!!! From extremly long to super short!!

Since I can remember it, I always used to have long hairs.
When I was younger I never went to the hair stylist. My parents used to cut my hairs. We rarely did that, so my hair became really long with the time. I also never colored them.
My hair are really thick and healthy looking, so people were always praising my hair. I started to appreciate my long hair and couldn't bring it over me to cut them.
I wanted them to be longer and longer. Everytime I cut the ends of the hair, I always felt that they became too short again.

I never thought about cutting or coloring them.

In April 2013 I fulfilled one dream of me and went to Japan. There I got to know the japanese Summer and no joke, it's really hot in Summer. It was everyday around 37°C and the worst was the humidity. It made that heat even worse.

I always put my hair in a bun, because I wasn't used to this heat and it was way to hot to leave my hair loose.
I started to get really tired of my bun and started to wonder how I would look like with short hair.
To be honest I also got a bit inspired by Miley Cyrus. As she cut her hair, I was really surprised. I always loved her wavy long hair and suddenly they were gone. Even though, I love her new hair style. It looks so amazing on her. This is why I was starting to think how I would look with short hair.

During my time in Japan I was also looking for some changes.

One day in the beginning of July, I decided with my friend to go cut my hair.
We went to a hair stylist in 109 in Shibuya.
I asked them to cut my hair a bit over my sholders. The hair stylist was kind of surprise about it. He asked me how come I wanted to cut them. I just told him my story and that I wanted to chance something.

I was really satisfied with the result.
It was for me the first time having short hair and I have to admit, it's really comfortable.

Short hairs are easier to treat, it takes less time to wash them and they are lighter. For a moment I was even thinking: "Why didn't I cut them earlier!?"

A few weeks later, it was a day in August. I was with my same friend and we went for lunch. We were talking about how fast my hair grew long again. Suddenly we were searching on Google for some new hair styles. Then out of nowhere we just decided to go to the hair stylist again.

We went to the same hair stylist in Shibuya and I cut my hair to the point, where I couldn't tie them together anymore.

I actually I wanted to cut them even shorter. I saw a picture of Keira Knightley, where she was having some super short hair. I really liked it and was about to cut my hair the same way, but I was kind of afraid, if it would look good on me. So I decided just to cut them a bit shorter and look how it looks on me.

In the end I really liked how my hair looked and started to believe that my head was made for short hairs. I decided to go to the hair stylist again before leaving for my hometown.

So in the end of September I went again to Shibuya and made the Keira Knightley inspired hair style.
I fell in love with it. I seriously loove my short hair. Especially the color is amazing. It's such a typical japanese color. =) I really really like it =)

No one ever believed that I would cut my hair. Not even I could believe it. I was so proud of my long hair. They were my trade mark. I could never bring it over me to cut them.
I believe that if that time comes where you think about cutting them, then go for it. This moment only comes once. If you are not sure about cutting them then don't do it! Do it only when you are sure about it! Otherwise you will maybe just regret it.

What do you guys think about it? What do you prefer more, Long or Short hair?

My current Hair Treatment products for dry hair Review

You have dry hair??? You need some treatment, but you don't have time to waste for hair masks? Then how about some quick treatments??

After showering or whenever I feel that my hair look dry. I like to give them some treatment. If I don't have time for a hair mask, I like to apply some hair serum.
The following products are the products that I mostly use for my hair.

Liese Hair Cocktail

If you have dry and frizzy hair, this cocktail is perfect for you. It combines nourishing water with anti-frizz oil. Before using this product you can tell that there are 2 different types of fluid inside. After shaking the bottle they merge together and it looks milky.
It penetrates into the hair without leaving any trace of oiliness.

This is a product that I've been enjoying sooo much. I already knew about it before coming to Japan. I like to apply this product on my hair to prevent them from drying out. I usually apply it after taking a shower on my towel dry hair.

  • It contains 120ml
  • It has a peachy scent.

Essential Damage-Care Nourishing and Straighting Rich Premiere Hair Serum

This serum is made for people who have damaged hair. It contains honey oil to provide care. It leaves the hair moisturized and smooth while repairing the damage. The hair doesn't feel oily at all.

This product I use it specially for the hair tips. It has more of an oily texture, than the Liese Hair Cocktai.

  • It contains 60ml
  • It has a really sweet scent to it. It kind of reminds me of raspberry.

Etude House Silk Scarf Moist Hair Mist

This mist provides shine to the hair. It has a floral scent. You can easily spray it all over your hair. It doesn't appear oily.

I love to spray this product on my hair. It gives them a really nice glow and it smells sooo good. I especially like it because it makes my hair smell sooo good.

  • It contains 120ml
  • It has a really nice floral scent.

Skinfood Black Sugar Strawberry Mask Wash-Off Review

I can't believe it!!!! Black Sugar Strawberry?!? Whaaaat??? How cool is that!!! It's a new product from Skinfood. It just came out recently here in Japan.

OMG guys, it smells sooo good!!! I wish I could actually post the smell of it. It's amazing!! It gives me a feeling of relax and coziness. It kind of reminds me of a tea that I own and it's sooo good!!!
The smell kind of reminds me of fall-time. It gives me a warm feeling.

The texture of the product is slightly different from the black sugar mask wash-off. It's a little bit more watery.
This product contains also sugar pearls for its exfoliating properties, but it also has strawberry seeds inside, that makes it feel slightly softer.
On my opinion it also feels more moisturizing, because of the strawberries.

I got this product in a set with a small bottle of the Black Sugar Serum at the Skinfood store in Shinjuku.

About the product

Price: 1890 Yen (14.15 EUR)

Size: The pot contains 100 gr.

Where can you find it: Skinfood store or online on

How it works:

After cleansing your face, massage a small amount of product in circle motions all over your face. Try to avoid eye and mouth area and concentrate on the acne prone spots.
Leave it on for about 10 minutes, then while massaging your skin, rinse it off with luke warm water.

How it feels:
Compared to the black sugar wash-off, it appears to me that the strawberries give more of a fluid texture. This cream gives a really fresh and soft feeling.
It exfoliates really well. I had some breakouts going on and thanks to this wash-off it eased them. They are not completely gone, but the are not as big as they were before.

The Challenge: My Current Concealer Review

Don't you agree with me, if I would say that Concealer is one of the most important beauty products?!?
I could never survive without a concealer. I'm the type of girl that always carries around a concealer wherever I go. You never know when you need it.
If you don't need any concealer, than you are really really blessed!!! Remember that!! ;)

Let's be honest, not all the concealer, have the same coverage effect like we would like it to be.
Some packagings seriously suck so badly, that you just want to throw them towards a wall.

The following concealer are the ones, that I'm currently using.

Missha Perfect Concealer

I discovered this concealer not long ago at the Missha store. I fell in love with it. I wrote e separate post about it. Click here, if you want to know more about it. This product smells like borotalco, it's a really pleasant smell. (Not sure, if everybody knows that product, it's really famous in Italy)

Coverage: It has a really great coverage. It's a creamy texture, that covers up really smoothly. It stays on for more then 8 hours. There are 2 different shades available.

Packaging: The product is inside a small pot. It's really easy to use. You can use your bare hands or a brush to apply the cream on your face. You have to use your own brushes, because this product doesn't come with a brush.

Revlon PhotoReady Concealer

This product will probably become one of my all time favorite products. It has a pretty neutral smell.

Coverage: The coverage is extremely good. It's a creamy texture, that you can easily put on the spots, that need coverage and it stays on for over 8 hours. They come in different shades and I like to mix two colors together to achieve my skin tone.

Packaging: This concealer comes in a stick-form. On my opinion it's the best packaging of all of them. You can directly apply the concealer on your face. It's travel-friendly, you doesn't need any tools for application and it's pretty easy to use.

Candy Doll Concealer

Candy Doll belongs to the japanese cosmetic brand Koji and it belongs to the famous japanese Gyaru Tsubasa Masuwaka. She's known for her flawless complexion and dolly look. This is why I purchased the concealer from that brand. It smells kind of like paint for some reason.

Coverage: The coverage is medium. It's more of a fluid texture. I prefer using this concealer to highlight or for underneath my eyes, instead of pimples or red spots, because it doesn't properly covers up.

Packaging: This is the type of packaging, that I hate the most. You can't tell how much product is inside those tubes. I feel like even if there is no product on the brush anymore, there is still tons of product left in the tube. With that brush, it's impossible to reach the sides of the tube and it's there were most of the product is. You can't even cut open the tube with scissors, since the plastic is so hard. I think those packagings are really not convenient at all.

Etude House Surprise Essence Concealer

Etude House is one of the most famous korean Cosmetic brands. It's famous for they cute packagings.
I personally didn't had a reason, why I purchased this concealer. I just am a big fan of Etude House. The product has a really pleasant smell.

Coverage: The coverage is medium. It's a fluid texture, a bit more fluid than the Candy doll concealer.
Also this concealer I only apply it for highlighting or underneath my eyes and not on acne spots.

Packaging: It's the same type of packaging like the Candy Doll concealer. The shade of the brush is a bit different, but it doesn't make any difference on how I feel about it.

On my opinion worst kind of packaging....
From left to right: Candy Doll #1, Etude House #1, Missha Natural Beige and Revlon in #2 and #4

For a good coverage:
On my personal experience, try to go for a creamy textured concealer. It has more of a covering effect than fluid concealer. I prefer using fluid concealer for highlighting or dark cyrcles.

Girls Drama: My Favorites: Gillette Venus SPA Breeze Review

Ok, lets talk about some serious stuff here!! :D
I mean who doesn't need a razor... right?!? There are several parts of your body, that should be shaved. On my opinion, it looks automatically more hygenic and feminine.
Actually when I came to Japan, I saw that girls were also removing hairs from their arms. I'm not sure, if I missed that trend or if we just don't do it in Switzerland... I've never removed them there. It never really crossed my mind and it would be such a pain to do it all the time...
What do you guys think about it?? Arms?? Shaving? Waxing?

Laser therapie?!?
I actually heard that nowadays you can laser away the hairs, so that they will never grow back. I'm not sure, if it's only an asian thing or if it's international.
If you have experiance with laser therapie, please let me know what you think about it and how it was. =)

Shaving blades infused with gel bars
When they started to sell shaving blades infused with gel bars, I was really doubtful. I thought it wouldn't work properly or the gel wouldn't last long enough and just fall off after a few days.

I was pretty surprised about the result after I tried them. They work really well. Venus has some different kind of these blades on the market. My favorite among them is the SPA Breeze.

I've been using this blade for the whole summer. I received a lot of compliments regarding on how my legs looked and I could definitely tell a huge difference too.

Venus SPA Breeze

The packaging contains 3 blades. Tha razor is pink and looks really feminine. The gel bars have a white tea scent, which gives a really relaxing feeling. The only thing that you need beside your razor is water.

+ Pro's

  • One blade lasts me for about 2 - 3 weeks.
  • This blade doesn't cause any white dots on your skin
  • It's really soft on the skin
  • It doesn't irritate the skin
  • you don't need any shaving gel anymore
  • perfect for traveling
  • No matter how careless I was shaving, I never had any cuts.
  • It takes definitely less time

- Wish it was better

  • This blades are a bit more expensive than the regular one.
  • Sometimes the gel bars fall off too early

Personal opinion
This product is for me a lifesaver. Since I started to use this product, I don't need any shaving mousse or gel anymore. These blades might be a bit more expensive, than the regular one, but they are totally worth the money.
You have definitely less worries and it takes less time to shave. Who doesn't have those days, when you have to hurry, but "nooooo!!" you still need to shave your legs. With this blade it makes it so much easier to shave. On top of that, it makes your skin appear flawless, soft, smooth, without any cuts or white dots.
If only they would fix the problem with the gel bars falling off too early. It would make this product perfect.

The Challenge: Maybelline Masterliner vs. Revlon ColorStay Eyeliner

Both cosmetic brands Revlon and Maybelline, launched new Eyeliner here in Japan.

From left to right: Maybelline rich black and Revlon black brown

Maybelline Masterliner

First impression
When I was comparing this eyeliner with the Revlon eyeliner at the store, I thought that it wasn't as pigmented as the Revlon ones.
I was first sceptical, if I really should buy it or not. I was totally going for the Revlon Eyeliner. In the end I decided to test it out.

Price: 1250 Yen (9.50 EUR)

+ Pro's
  • There are 2 different colors: brown and black
  • The eyeliner stays on for about 8 hours
  • Perfect for your waterline. I usually need to reapply any eyeliner, because it doesn't stay on for long. With this eyeliner, it stayed on the whole time.
  • It doesn't smudge
  • It's waterproof
  • Colors are not as pigmented, it gives a more natural-looking finis
  • It can easily be removed with eye-makeup remover

- Wish it was better
  • The eyeliner comes without a sharpener
  • Colors are not as pigmented. For a stronger effect you need to apply more layers

Personal opinion
I'm happy that I purchased it. I chose the rich black over the brown. I'm definitely sure that I'll go back and buy the brown as well.
Even if the color is not really a strong black, you can still apply more layers, so it gives more definition. Also it looks more natural, when it's not as pigmented. It still looks really great. It's also perfect for your waterline. I always needed to reapply any other eyeliner on my waterline, but with this I could easily stay out for a whole night without reapplying it.

Revlon ColorStay Eyeliner

First impression
While testing this product at the store, I noticed that the application was really smoothly. The colors were really pigmented. I immediatly saw that the colors were different from the Maybelline eyeliner.

There are 3 different colors available: black, black brown and brown
I first wanted to purchase all the 3 colors. In the end, I decided to test out the black brown color. I still could go back and repurchase the other colors, if I liked it.

Price: 1200 Yen (9.12 EUR)

+ Pro's
  • There are 3 different colors: black, black brown and brown.
  • Smoothly application
  • The colors are really pigmented
  • There is a sharpener on the back. Perfect for traveling.
  • Good for smokey eyes
  • It can easily be removed with eye -makeup remover

- Wish it was better
  • Unfortunately I noticed that it starts to smudge after about 4 hours. When I'm only waering eyeliner without eyeshadow, I can see trace of the eyeliner on my crease.
  • after about 4 hours you need to reapply eyeliner on the waterline

Here are the different ways on how you can use the eyeliner, depending on how the peak is sharpened.

Personal Opinion
I'm kind of happy that I didn't purchase all of the colors. I usually really like to apply only eyeliner without eyeshadow. It would really bother me, if I have to check all the time, that I don't have eyeliner traces on my crease. Then again I really love the packaging. It comes with a sharpener which is amazing. I mean who doesn't have those moments were the peak breaks while your outside!! It makes it a perfect product for traveling.

My Favorites: Maybelline Baby Lips Dr. ResQ Medicated Lipbalm Review

There is a new Baby Lips familymember out in the market in Tokyo.

Dr. ResQ Medicated Lipbalm

Let's welcome him. =)

I was totally excited as I saw in AEON mall the new Baby lips. I immediatly bought it.
The packaging really suits its name. With the green and white colors, it really looks like a prescripted lipbalm. =)
The quality is as great as the other ones. This lip balm is not tinted. I know that the US Baby lips version are mostly tinted, but the asian version are not. They have a separate line only for tinted lip balms. If you want to know more about them, check it out here.

You can tell by the greenish color of the balm, that the flavour is "fresh mint". The smell of mint is not that strong. Almost not noticeble.

This lip balm is meant to treat dry lips. Especially now that summer is over and the colder days are coming, your lips are starting to dry out and will need the treatment.
Right after applying it, you can't really feel or smell anything. After a few seconds you start to smell the containing menthol.
It protects the lips from drying out, it moisturizes and gives a baby-like feeling to the lips.

Etude House Wonder Pore Freshner Review

After using this product for a few months, so far I really like this product.
It definitely lasts for a long time. The bottle is huge. It's definitely worth the price.
Online it's available on

I purchased the big bottle that contains 500ml. I think this will last me for almost a year.

How it works:

This product is a 7 in 1 solution. You soak some product on a cotton pad and tap it over your face, concentrating on the spots where your pores are clearly visible.

7 in 1
  • Deep cleanses pores
  • Maintain ph 4.5
  • Control large mount of sebum
  • Minimize appearance of pores
  • Refine the skin tones
  • Keep the elasticity of pores
  • Moisturize inside and outside of skin

My pores have become less visible. I can see that it cleanses very deeply. My cotton pads are always full with with eccess oil and sebum. My skin feels moisturized after applying the product.
So most of what the product indicates are fulfilled. Still I feel that there is something missing. I somehow am expecting more from it. It's as if the product isn't fully completed.

What I really like about this product is the bottle. It has on top of it a pump, where you can put your cotton pad on and pump the fluid on it. It was actually the packaging that gained my attention. It looks sooo cool.
